The Tanar View team and Time in Lockdown!
A warm welcome to our brand new website for Tanar vIew! At least Lockdown has enabled us to work on those projects that are always ‘on the back burner’ but rarely get finished.
We are delighted with our new look but Lockdown has meant that work that was planned to be done on the apartment in the Spring has, obviously, been delayed. So the website will be refreshed with brand new photography once the work on the exterior and interior has finished. Exciting! But before I come on to the changes afoot, let me introduce ourselves.
My husband, Neil and I have been running Tanar View for the past eight years. It’s the only rental property we have and we really enjoy welcoming guests to our beautiful part of Royal Deeside in Scotland. We must be doing something right as some of our guests have come back five times! We pride ourselves on offering a personal service – although self catering, we like our guests to feel at home and on holiday from the moment that they arrive so that they can put their feet up and enjoy a homemade scone and a cuppa (or something stronger!).
We love living here ourselves and are always on hand if you need any information or recommendations on the local area. Other than that, we leave you to your own devices to enjoy the privacy and tranquility that Tanar View offers.
Of course 2020 has turned out to be a strange and very worrying year for the travel industry with the onset of Covid 19. Clearly we were unable to honour bookings from the end of March but, unlike some holiday rentals, we refunded in full any guests that had booked a stay with us that could not be taken and I am delighted that they are all keen to re-book when possible.
We are in the midst of some exciting changes to the apartment. The deck, with its wonderful views to the hills of Glen Tanar , is being extended and a lower deck is being added where a hot tub and firepit will enable you to enjoy the outdoors whatever the weather. The only ‘onlookers’ you might get are the two friendly Highland cows, Snowdrop and Primrose who reside in the field in front of Tanar View.
We’re also upgrading the interiors with new soft furnishings planned. Oh, and we have an EV charger for the electric car drivers out there. We’ve recently converted to an all electric Hyundai Kona and love it!
Neil and I have actually been living in Tanar View for the last three months! We initially moved in while we were having kitchen renovations done in our own house and then….Lockdown! We have to say however, that not only has staying on Tanar View been thoroughly enjoyable (although we have to tell ourselves that we are not on holiday and to stop quaffing wine each night!) but it has enabled us to make some small but significant changes
I look forward to writing regular blogs to keep you up to date with what is happening in our rather special part of the world but hope that it’s not too long until you can come here and experience it for yourselves!
