Tanar View Location

Tanar View is situated in the grounds of the restored Dalwhing Mill House on the doorstep of Glen Tanar estate and the Cairngorm National Park.  It is ideally located for fishing on the river Dee (a two minute drive from the Craigendinnie beat), exploring Deeside and the Glen Tanar estate (a five minute walk away) or ski-ing in the Cairngorm mountains.  We are two miles from the Glen Tanar ballroom if you are attending a wedding and just over the river from the Aboyne Gliding Club if you've come for a birds eye view of Royal Deeside.

Reached via a long tree lined track, Tanar View is in a peaceful and private setting yet it is only a two mile drive to the nearest village of Aboyne where there is a pub, coffee shops, an Indian restaurant, fish and chip shop, post office, a community theatre, a selection of shops and a small Co-op supermarket.

In the other direction, you will find the small village of Dinnet which has a local hotel and restaurant with home cooked food as well as a fascinating antique shop.  Ten minutes further up the road is Ballater, which is awash with lovely shops and good eating places.

Banchory is half an hour away and is a busy little town with plenty of shops including an Orvis for the fishing and shooting enthusiast.

There are a number of lovely towns, villages and rural spots throughout Deeside with lots going on in terms of concerts, festivals and events such as Highland Games depending on the time of year.

If you want to venture into the city then Aberdeen is about an hour away by car and boasts shopping, restaurants, art galleries, museums and cinemas.  On your doorstep however, you have castles, whisky distilleries and, of course, Balmoral.
